Certified Weld Inspector/NDT
Our client is currently seeking a Certified Weld Inspector/Non-Destructive Tester for their industrial metals facility. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties and have the skills and experience listed below. DUTIES •Perform ultrasonic, visual and dimensional inspections on fabricated poles and components for verification of compliance to company and industry standards. •Initiate Corrective Action and Preventative Action Plan, Deviations, Reject tags, Hold tags or Process / function discrepancy reports as needed. Document nonconforming activities for continual improvement. •Use various non-destructive testing techniques and methods such as dye penetrate, magnetic particle and hardness testing to evaluate items. •Audits hardware layout and dimensional tolerances of hardware for compliance to customer requirements. •Perform in house calibration of ultrasonic instruments to AWS requirements. •Assist in the coordination of the resolution of shop identified design or drafting problems with the Engineering department. •Perform final product audits on ready to ship loads. •Assists in the maintenance of the ISO-9001-2000 Program •Update and distribute quality reports including welder qualification logs, UT reject reports and final product audits. •Make field trips when necessary to investigate, evaluate and recommend corrective action of problems. •Assist and works with customer representatives when they visit or tour plant and give NDT demonstrations. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE •Certifiable to level II UT technician per ASNT recommended practices. •Completion of an accredited training program on weld inspection NDE techniques. •Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, geometry and trigonometry. •Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios and proportions to practical situations. •Ability to read and interpret drawings and documents such as codes, standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. •Ability to write detailed reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups. •Certifiable to an AWS Certified Welding Inspector per AWS QC-1 requirements.
